I began my journey August 30, 2011 and there’s no turning back. I was previously natural for 4 months and I loved it, as well as my peers, except my mother. The one person that I thought would be encouraging through that time was my mother, but she teased me about how “nappy” my hair looked. Frantic, I ran to the nearest beauty supply store and bought a baby relaxer. I regretted it because on the day that would have been my 1 year natural anniversary, I wore a relaxer.

This time around, I do not care what others have to say. I’ve actually gained a LOT of confidence this time around, and I absolutely LOVE my TWA. It makes me look edgier, and it’s different. I don’t look like everybody :).

I didn’t transition at all. I cut all my ends 4 weeks after my last relaxer and it feels GREAT not to have that chemically enhanced hair in my head. 

I feel FREE!!
